What are the Consequences if ISU Workers Go On Strike?

4/11/2022

The members of AFSCME Local 1110—which represents more than 300 buildings, grounds and dining services employees at Illinois State University—announced the results of their strike authorization vote held Friday. 96% voted for a strike authorization!

The union contract expired last June. After more than 20 negotiating sessions over the past six months, university administration is still refusing to offer livable wages to the workers who make ISU happen.

Workers allege poverty wages, lack of respect, and too few staff.

On Tuesday, April 12th, 2022, ISU workers will hold a rally and march outside Hovey Hall at 4 PM.
